Overview – NavIC receivers are available for some industries on payment basis. NavIC signals are coming vertically from stationary reference. NavIC will be much better than GPS.
There are two uses of the navigation system. Security, air travel and important installations which are not a price-conscious industry. For them the NavIC receivers are there. You pay some money and you will get good NavIC receivers …both L and S bands. These NavIC receivers are going to be installed in aircraft soon. It is slow, but things are moving. Another side of navigation business is by common people. you want to locate so many things and that is where it has to penetrate. Chips that are coming today in mobile phones are GPS enabled. Since our signals are coming vertically from stationary reference, so in crowded place and narrow lanes, our NavIC is going to work better than GPS.
Chip is being built to use NavIC in mobile phones. Blueprint of the indigenous chip will be available by year end. Market penetration of NavIC will start slowly. Once people see it benefits, it will be very popular
If you use both L and S bands, our accuracy is more than 5 meters. This has a better potential than a 20-meter accuracy GPS which is actually supplemented by the GPRS information. But our NavIC can give you the accuracy GPRS and GPS combined. And that accuracy is not only for cities but every rural part of the country. The market will look for a chip and market is so price sensitive that if somebody invests in it then its a different investment because its different from mobile assembling and navigation chip development company is not there. So we thought we will develop our own chip and I am glad to share with you that we have already built a chip with 32channel IRNS receiver. This chip is now being tested and by the end of this year, we will be able to provide a blueprint of that chip. Market penetration will start slowly and once people will see the benefits, it will explode.
We are going for a new type of a technology that’s called Inverse NavIC. It will be positioned around the airports and we will have receivers which will locate the position with respect to the ground transmitters and LAN. GAGAN can allow up to 250 meters height, but below 250 meters auto landing, this system will be useful. This is another by-product of the NavIC. We have built the technology and are on the verge of testing it. It’s very compact and we want to make it very cost effective. Today, we have a Gagan hardware and Gagan equipment and this new system will enable UAV operations very precisely. When you need an accuracy of 1 meters to operate UAV’s then you need this system spread all across the city.
